Gear up for a great school year, Hawkins County!
As we get ready to welcome our students back, our incredible Transportation Department is working hard behind the scenes to ensure everyone has a safe ride to school.
To keep you fully informed, we want to share a quick update: like many districts across the country, we are currently running a bit short-staffed on drivers. Because of this, we will be starting the school year with a few "double routes."
What you need to know:
*We are still finalizing the schedule, so we don’t know exactly which routes will be doubled just yet.
*Rest assured, as we get closer to the start of school, we will share those specific details directly with you.
*We are very hopeful that this will be a temporary situation as we work to fill these positions!
Want to join our amazing team? We need your help to get us to 100%! If you or anyone you know loves serving our community, enjoys working with kids, and is interested in becoming a school bus driver, we would love to talk to you.

As we gear up for an amazing 2026-27 school year, Hawkins County Schools are pleased to announce a unified daily schedule across our district. To provide better consistency, safety, and convenience for our families and bus routes, all standard HCS campuses will follow the exact same times this year!
Our Standard Daily Schedule (All Campuses):
Doors Open: 7:15 AM

Important Notice for Pre-K Families: Please note that Pre-Kindergarten (Pre-K) classes do not follow this standard schedule. Pre-K runs on an alternate, specialized schedule to allow for safer, staggered transition times. Pre-K parents, please check directly with your child’s individual classroom teacher for specific drop-off and dismissal times!
Weather Closures & Schedule Delays: As always, the safety of our students and staff is our absolute top priority. In the event of inclement winter weather or road hazards, the district may implement delayed openings or emergency closures.
We will communicate any schedule adjustments immediately. RMS Girls Basketball Tryout Information
Cheer Team Parent Meeting will be Thursday May 21 at 5pm, in the Gym. If you are unable to attend, please email matthew.seals@hck12.net.
Cross Country Tryouts for RMS and Bulls Gap students. Upcoming 6th Graders are welcomed to tryout as well. Please have a physical on file with the school before tryouts.
Tomorrow, May 13 is field day at RMS. Please make sure your student is dressed appropriately, remaining in dress code. Concessions will not be sold, so be sure to bring water bottles. Sunscreen and a towel is also advised. We look forward to a fun field day!
Come out and support our RMS Warrior Band! Our Spring Concert is Tuesday, May 12 @7pm. We can't wait to see you there!
A mission launch to our amazing teachers! They're the true explorers, guiding our students through the cosmos of knowledge. Every day, they're preparing our young astronauts for their next giant leap, whether it's solving complex problems or reaching for the stars. The 7th & 8th grade RMS Band participated in the Trills and Thrills Dollywood Music Festival on Saturday. They truly “Won the Day” by earning a Superior Rating, the highest rating possible for a performing group.
This is a great accomplishment for our band program. We are very proud of these students and their dedication to excellence. Following their performance, they spent a fun filled day at Dollywood.
The band’s next performance is the RMS Band Spring Concert. The concert will be held on Tuesday, May 12th at 7:00pm in the RMS Auditorium. The concert is open and free to the public.
